• #MarchMeetTheMaker2021 Day 26: Favourite •
My favourite make has to be commissions, working with people to make something specific they want is really exciting.
- I start this process by going through the theme of what they want (in this case it was for a Friend of mine Gery Garrett and she came to me wanting a portrait done in my embroidery style so we went through some of her photographs and picked out a favourite).
- I would then start sketching out ideas (for this piece I drew out a simple outline of Gery’s picked photograph).
- And then we would go through each of the elements of the make before working on it (for Gery’s commission she decided on wanting this greyscale style on white fabric with a purple/pink toned words ‘Keep Being Yourself!’).
This all leads to making something unique to what the customer wants and I think that is the main goal with getting a commission done from an artist you like.
If you are debating a commissioned piece for yourself or a friend feel free to message me on here or email at email@example.com, prices start at £40 and I would be glad to talk through any queries or questions you may have.
Make sure to follow not to miss out on the final March Meet the Maker wrap up this coming week!
