A Simple Favor (Feig, 2018)

-Spoilers Alert-

When I saw the trailer for this film I was drawn straight in with the beautiful shots, wonderful actors and memorable music. The mystery of the story also making you want to see more as you wonder what has happened to this woman Emily.

“Did you just take my picture? Erase it.
I guess I’m not the kind of person you’re normally friends with.
Oh, you don’t want to be friends with me, trust me.”

Emily Nelson and Stephanie Smothers, A Simple Favor (Feig, 2018)

The story itself did not disappoint as we follow friend Stephanie Smothers (played by Anna Kendrick) and learn more about her relationship with Emily Nelson (played by Blake Lively) and about the women as she investigates her best friends disappearance. She discovers these great layers of lies to the woman as Emily has tried to hide her true identity. And the great way in which she has manipulated those in her life.

This film also shows how the outside view of people can be different to the true way a person is through Stephanie’s character also. As she is a really successful single mother, after her husband had died, and professional vlogger. But behind closed doors she has had some unexpected ‘bad girl’ moments rounded up well by Emily as “Brother Fucker”.

Overall this film is a really entertaining look at home life and its secrets. With the dramatic detective work, affairs, scams and finally getting the truth in the end scene you will be drawn into this story and laugh a lot at the comedic moments. With the wonderful acting club of Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively I would definitely recommend seeing.
