Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Parker, 2018)

I’ve decided since I got a Unlimited Card with Cineworld, and have therefore been going to the cinema more frequently as I had hoped, that I should take advantage of this. Therefore I was thinking of starting a new project of reviewing these films in a #ayearoffilm and so here is the first installment!

-Spoilers Alert-

A positive feel-good follow on story from the first film ten years ago. This film starts with Sophie inviting family and friends to the Grand Re-Opening of their Greek Hotel after her mother Donna has passed away. We then see the past of Donna’s life leading up to her baby girl Sophie alongside the grown up Sophie finding her feet without her mother.

There was a great follow-on from the first film as we see how time has effected the characters with Donna passing, Sophie doing up her mother’s hotel into the dream place she had always envisioned. Skye and her relationship had taken a hit as he worked in New York, with Rosie and Bill’s relationship also challenged. Making for some realistic time passing.

I also enjoyed seeing Donna’s past and how Sophie came to have three possible dad’s. A wonderful finding-yourself tale as she travels from Paris to Greece. You find yourself wanting to go backpacking on your own adventure to beautiful places [and hope to find such beautiful people on the way too].

Overall making for another successful late sequel of this year that is a musical must for any fan.
